Breast Cancer Awareness - Too Far?

This ad, featuring Canadian MTV host Aliya-Jasmine Sovani, is making the internet rounds. It is promoting the BoobyBall, a Breast Cancer Awareness/fund raiser event Aliya-Jasmine is hosting on Oct. 2.

I know what the answer is from a male point of view, but ladies ... is this too much?

Update - Sorry folks, the copyright Nazis are trying to pull the video. I'm trying to keep up a valid link, but if it shows as unavailable, don't blame me!

Remember, you asked...I'm sure this is just the result of social indoctrination, but I think I look better when my own boobs look good. I get that the message is to keep the ones you have, and that women get hang-ups when they need mastectomies. However, I figure if I have to give up my natural boobs so what, I'll get a better pair the second time around.

I think it is a pretty superficial ad - we are talking cancer here - one of my clients is a group of general surgeons - i can assure you there is nothing light hearted about breast cancer.

This ad makes men look like idiots.

You did ask

Well, yes it does ... however, it was conceived, written, and directed by the women - the writer is the lead model.

It's too racy for my generation, for sure ... but this is aimed at the latest MTV generation, and I don't claim to know to know those demographics ....

The first clip that I guess is the actual ad -- exactly. Put it on MTV and they'll get a charge out of it and have no clue what it's about.

Unfortunately -- if you watch the second one, the minute the girl opens her mouth she's an idiot. And watching that "making of" video kind of lessens the whole thing.

(67, listen to you -- too racy for "my generation" -- so what, now you ARE 67?? Puh-leeze!! ;))

Airhead, certainly ... but, it's a good cause. I'd rather have her being an idiot raising awareness and money for research than just being an idiot ...

If the intent of the ad was to raise awareness, it certainly has. The play and comments this thing has garnered on the internet far outstrip what it would have done if it were a 'normal' plea for medical research money.

The ad, I don't think, is demeaning just to men. Notice the gay pack of sailors, and the women - they are all staring slack jawed at her ..... I think she is actually right - everyone loves a great pair of boobs (the definition of 'great' is up to the individual, isn't it?).

I visited my daughter's college this past weekend, and attended a football game where a lot of the crowd was wearing various pink TShirts. The college's initials are TT. One shirt I saw that I found very interesting had emblazoned on the back "TTs Love DDs". (A girl was wearing it ...)
