Have You Forgotten?

Tomorrow marks the 11th anniversary of the day that changed our nation, and indeed the world, forever.

Have you forgotten?

I haven't.

It seems that many Americans have.  Or, they just pretend it didn't happen.  Or they were too young to fully comprehend what happened.  Or, they were one of the few idiots that blamed the United States.

It is incumbent on everyone who lived through those dark days to remember, and to pass on what happened.  We simply can't allow complacency and the short memory of America to make it go away.

(If you think it will never be forgotten, ask yourself what our young people know about World War One.  Most would have no idea what it was, or when it happened.  World War Two, might get a page in a current high school history book.  Korea, what's that?  Cold War?  Never heard of it ... )

Update - as if forgetting wasn't bad enough ... NBC was the only major network NOT to show the moment of silence yesterday in tribute to the victims of the attack - a moment that even their Lord Obama observed.  What would cause NBC to do this?  Were they covering some breaking news story. some emergency?  Not exactly ... they were showing an interview with a Kardashian gloating over her latest boob job.  Does NBC really hate America that much?

TSA - Terminally Stupid A*Holes?

I had the misfortune to go through the Corpus Christi International Airport recently. That's a very long title for an airport whose terminal isn't long enough to hold all of those letters. The entire airport has 6 gates, one of which is not in service.

This small facility has the most stringent, and perhaps most incompetent, TSA workers I have ever run into.

Leaving the city, I put my possessions into the bins for the X-Ray machine, just as I do every other time I go through an airport. I've got two TSA 'officers' standing over my shoulders while I am doing this. Apparently they are bored, because there is no one else in the security line.

"Sir, you have to remove your belt." I point to the tub that already holds my belt.

"Sir you have to completely empty your pockets." I show him that my keys and change are already in the tub.

"No, sir, your pockets have to be empty." I make a big show of removing my wallet and placing it into the tub. I cleverly beat the system by not taking out the handful of paper money still in one pocket. One of the TSA gentlemen standing over me picks up my wallet and starts thumbing through it. "Hey, you don't need to do that", I tell him, probably a little more forcefully than I should have. He puts it back down into the tub.

I am waved through the machine finally. It is not a metal detector, but one of the new MRI type machines that gives them a great picture of your junk. I don't care. Apparently they don't like the picture, and subject me to a more personal than warranted patdown. Pervert!

I endure without comment, and walk around to get my tubs. My laptop is grabbed by one 'officer'. "I have to inspect this". OK, I say. She steps over to the swab station. Another 'officer' picks up my shoes, and gets in line at the swab station.

"Don't touch anything, sir," I am admonished as I reach for my laptop bag.

After 'laptop swabbie' gets done, he hands me the computer, and then starts dissecting my laptop bag. Every pocket is gone through. 'Shoe swabbie' is having problems with the swab machine, from the looks of it - either that, or he's sneaking sniffs of my sneakers.

They pile all my stuff back up on the table. No 'thank you', or 'have a nice day' ... they just go back to waiting for the next victim.

I start to put my gear back in order. "Sir, you can't do that there."

I gather all my stuff, two trips worth, and carry it about 30 feet to a seat, where I am finally able to reassemble myself.

Fortunately, I was not in a hurry to catch the flight.

I had booked this flight 3 weeks in advance. It was not a one way ticket. My destination was a short haul, in state. I do not have a middle eastern name. I don't know whether these people were bored, or just plain power mad. I do know that 8 'officers' overseeing a one lane security checkpoint, with one machine, seems to be a bit of a money waste.

BTW - When I got home, I found that my bag had been tossed by TSA as well. Nothing was missing, but every bag, every zipper, every compartment had been opened and the contents gone through. I truly hope they enjoyed three days worth of dirty socks ...

In the interest of full disclosure, the above photo was not taken by me in Corpus. I can only imagine what that crew would have done if I had pulled out a camera!

Update - TSA, but not related to Corpus Christi. Somehow, a 65 year old woman passed through a TSA checkpoint in Terminal D at DFW airport, with a handgun in her carryon bag. From news reports, her bag went through the XRay machine, she passed through, retrieved the bag, and went on her way. Sometime later, someone saw the gun displayed on the machine's monitor. TSA personnel finally were able to locate her 90 minutes later. She had already boarded a plane, and the plane had backed away from the gate. They pulled her off the plane and had her go back through the screening process, where the gun was found. She was taken into custody. The incident started at 6:30am.

The woman is an attorney, and had an expired CHL. Her explanation, made public through her attorney, was that she forgot the gun was in the bag. The fact that she had a CHL and went through that training tells me she should have known better. How in the heck do you forget you have a .38 caliber pistol in your computer bag?

I've been through DFW checkpoints so many times I can't even to begin to guess how many. They are just as 'overmanned' as the ones in Corpus. How in the world did this woman take her bag through the checkpoint with a pistol in it without being stopped?

I saw an item during news coverage on this. TSA reported to Congress that they stop an average of 4 handguns PER DAY at security checkpoints in the US. Very few of those are intentional attempts at smuggling a weapon onto an airplane, which leads to the inescapable fact that a lot of people are just plain stupid.

Iraq - What We're Leaving Behind

Normally I don't have much use for the mainstream news, and certainly not anything that has to do with the NBC news organization. However ...

I was tooling around last night, bored with Monday Night Football's snooze fest and happened upon Brian Williams' Rock Center. Ted Koppell was presenting his first story for the new show, and it had to do with Obama's mandate that all US troops be out of Iraq by year's end. I only caught a piece of it, so went to NBC's site and watched the whole thing. It is scary.

There's a bit of anti-war politics at the beginning, which is to be expected. However, what follows in part 1 and part 2 should put a chill in all of us. The absolute lunacy of completely abandoning Iraq from a military perspective is clear to see, and it is amazing to see two liberal leaning journalists openly questioning why Obama is doing it.

Other things concern me as well, most from a military perspective. We are arming the Iraqis with up to date military hardware - in some cases superior to what our front line forces are fielding. Eighteen F-16 Block 52 fighters are on order, with statements being made about an additional 18. This model of the Fighting Falcon is superior to any the USAF now flies. C-130J transports, equal to the newest ones the USAF is receiving. New build T-6 trainers, equal to what our aviators are trained on. M1A1 Abrahms tanks. Weapons systems of all levels, and professional US civilian run training on all of it. We are leaving huge stockpiles of supplies, vehicles, and ammunition, along with billions of dollars of infrastructure - paid for by our tax dollars.

The goal is to allow the Iraqis to stand up to Iran by themselves. The reality is that Iraq and Iran are now closer than at any time since they fought their war. Iran is exerting its influence, and has openly stated that as soon at the US military is gone, they will exert even more influence. The Iraqi military and government are just as corrupt and two faced as the Pakistanis are. Chances are that the two countries will become allies against us, and we may fight our own weapons systems at some point in the future.

Our military forces are still deployed in foreign lands as a result of the outcome of WWII and Korea. We are not still in Vietnam because we lacked the will to win that war, retreated, and lost. Now we abandon a nation that is teetering on the brink of success or failure - as we define those concepts - so a liberal politician can fulfill a campaign promise just in time for the next election cycle. Our enemies are patient - they merely wait for us to give up and leave. It amazes me that anyone is stupid enough to believe we can just walk away while the issue is still in question without begging for the worst possible outcome to occur.

I sincerely hope this does not turn out as I fear it will. It would be very interesting to get a glimpse 10 years into the future and see how this ends up.

Now, Obama is getting ready to do the same thing in Afgthanistan, where the situation is even more tenuous.

Update - Within days of the last US troops' departure, the unraveling of Iraq may have begun. The country's president has issued arrest warrants for the Vice President. He has also issued statements that he may disolve the coalition government that the US had painstakingly put together. Huge suicide blasts in downtown Baghdad. It's very possible that nation will disolve into utter chaos very shortly.

Update II - Related. The Obama Administration announced it will continue pursuing direct negotiations with the Taliban in Afghanistan, making it one of their top goals for 2012. Obama is doing this in spite of objections from the elected Afghanistan government. The supposedly secret initiative was leaked to world wide news outlets.

Let me predict what the bottom line of these negotiations will be, from the Obama perspective:

"Hey, Mister Moolah Moolah. You keep your buddies in check for 2012. Make sure everything is very quiet leading up to my re-coronation in November. Once I'm locked back in for another 4 years, I'll pull our troops out as fast as I can, just like I did in Iraq, and you can do whatever you want. I don't care. Just let me get re-elected before you go nuts."

Am I being cynical ... yeah, I guess. However, I think this is pretty close to what he is wanting, even if he won't state it publicly to us.

Obama Throws In The Towel

So, now our esteemed leader has decided to declare surrender and retreat from Iraq by year's end. He actually will claim this as a foreign policy victory, a fulfillment of a campaign promise. Why did he do this?

1) First and foremost, to shore up his far left voter base. In spite of being in office for 3 years, he hasn't actually surrendered anything - until now. He's tried, but failed - Iraq, Afghanistan, Gitmo, civilian trials, enhanced surveillance, etc. Got to give the kooks their 'America Last' moment to keep them happy in time for the election next year.

2) A legitimate reason. The Iraqi government's decision not to extend immunity for US troops beyond this year. This is a big deal. If immunity couldn't be guaranteed, any piss ant 'court' in Iraq could charge soldiers for crimes - real or imagined - and throw them in jail. With as much anti-US sentiment as there is in the country (spurred by the Iranians), this would have been a way to embroil US forces in controversy.

What effect will this have? A lot, and in many different ways.

1) Other than the US embassy and 1500-2000 contractors, US military presence in Iraq will be gone. No soldiers, no aviation. If the Iraqis get in trouble, either against insurgents or against Iran, they will be on their own. They are no where near capable of taking care of themselves. Expect Iran to ramp up its efforts to destabilize the government, and for attacks on the government to rise.

2) All the infrastructure the US built will go over to the Iraqis, with no compensation. All the billions of dollars worth of bases and equipment we've poured into the conflict will be given away. What happened to all that oil and oil money compensation we were supposed to get?

3) Plans are currently in the works to reequip the Iraqi armed forces with advanced weaponry, supposedly so they can take care of themselves. State of the art goodies like C-130J transports (equal to the most advanced ones in US service), and F-16 Block 50/52 fighters (superior to ones in US service) are currently on order. It will be interesting to see if these are delivered, and if so who pays for them - Iraq or the US taxpayer. If Iraq falls into a Iran-like theocracy, what happens to that equipment?

4) Huge stockpiles of arms and equipment in use by US forces in country will be left where it is, and default ownership will change to the Iraqis. It would be very interesting to see an inventory of what we end up abandoning there, but of course that won't be made public over fears of the political backlash.

5) Allies and semi-allies in the region, especially Afghanistan, will see this
'commitment' from the US, and realize that they can't count on the US in the long run.Enemies int he area will be emboldened, getting one more historic lesson that tells them all they have to do is wait, and they will win when we run away.

Once upon a time, folks bristled at Iraq being compared to Vietnam. Well, with this master stroke by Obama, the conflict in Iraq comes very close to being a duplicate of Vietnam. Will it fall the same way - a couple of years after the US pulls out, the government collapses and the enemy we spent years, billions of dollars, and thousands of lives trying to defeat ends up winning. The parallels are certainly there, and they extend to the home front. Leftists in the 60s and early 70s wanted more than anything for the US to have its nose bloodied, to be run out of Vietnam as losers. The left now wants the same thing, although its not politically acceptable to attack the troops themselves as it was in the hippie years. Now the plan is to praise the troops in public, while undercutting their efforts behind the scenes.

8 years, almost a trillion dollars, over 4400 lost lives and thousands of others injured or maimed. All of that sacrifice pretty much thrown away by the politically motivated actions of our Coward-in-Chief.

Obama's Libyan Legacy?

Details emerged this week about something that has happened in the chaos that has been Libya over the past few months.

20,000 brand new, Russian made and supplied, man portable anti-aircraft missiles are missing from warehouses in Libya. Uncle Mohammar had bought these lethal things over the past several years from our good friends in Moscow. Now, they have been stolen from unguarded locations by persons (at least publicly) unknown.

Speculation is either Iran or Al Qaeda got them, or maybe both. Either case is very bad news.

Man portable heat seeking missiles are terrorists' holy grail. A single person can operate it, and the weapon is capable of downing a jetliner from several miles away. The targeted aircraft won't know a thing until they are hit. Western governments all over the world have fought tooth and nail to prevent even a single weapon of this class from falling into terrorist hands. Now, we have the potential for 20,000 of them to be out there?

This should have been known about and dealt with. Western intelligence services had to know about the missiles' existence - you simply cannot hide a delivery of that many weapons. The locations where these weapons were stored should have been an A list target for US and NATO airstrikes early in the campaign.

IF the Obama Administration knew about these weapons prior to them being stolen, and they took no action to destroy them before they were stolen, that is stupidty and negligence of the highest order. If the Obama Administration didn't know about them, then there were some serious failures in the intelligence services - failures that need to be corrected, though it is far too late to stop this horse from escaping the barn.

The world just became a whole lot more dangerous.

10/24 Update - Ghaddaffi is dead, hunted down, captured, and executed. He certainly deserved it. But is Libya in a better situation now, at least as far as the rest of the world? The newly emerged leader of the rebels is a hard line Islamist, who has declared that Sharia law will rule the country. Any law currently on the books that conflicts with his interpretation of Sharia will be nullified. One of the first changes was to allow Libyan men up to four wives each. I'm sure Libyan women, who had just as much at stake in the rebellion as the men did, aren't feeling real good about this turn of events.

Couple this with what happened in Egypt, where a pro-Western government was overthrown and replaced with chaos run by the Muslim Brotherhood (also dedicated to a Sharia ruled state) and you've got the majority of North Africa now run by hard line Islamists. They join Iran and Pakistan. Turkey is moving that way. Syria teeters on falling, with Iran running the opposition. Iraq is shaky, and we're about to adandon it. Afghanistan is worse than shaky, and our current leadership shows no commitment to shoring it up.

Southwest Asia and the Middle East are well on their way to becoming a solid block of hard line anti-Western, very anti-US regimes, hell bent on making the world a radical Muslim paradise. How long will the Saudi peninsula be able to hold out against this wave? When will these radicals feel themselves powerful enough to try and push Isreal into the sea?

Oh, and by the way ... those missiles are still missing.

10/25 Update - The 'leaders' of pro-Islamic groups fighting to ascend to rule over Egypt have declared their intention of implementing Sharia law. The leader of one faction has gone as far as declaring himself 'The Enemy of Democracy" in a media interview. These groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, are calling for violence against Isreal, and are believed to be behind several recent terrorist attacks in the area.

The Obama Administration's embracing of the Arab Spring, cheering it on without taking any action to help form the future is leading directly to the rise of radical Islam in multiple countries that were once allies of the United States, or at least under control.

Ground Zero Mosque

I've held my words on the Ground Zero Mosque debate ... until now.

I find it amazing that some Americans are stupid/naive/oblivious to what this mosque means. To hear the mayor of New York stand up and fight for this mosque to be built is absolutely amazing. This attitude of 'if we love them, they'll love us back' is the same stupid head-in-the-sand mentality that allowed 9/11 to happen in the first place.

For anyone stupid enough to believe that the purpose of this mosque is peace and harmony between Muslims and the City of New York, here's a dose of reality ...

The mosque, to be built two blocks away from Ground Zero, is a blatant statement from the radical Muslim community that 'we won'. The Imam who is to run it has made multiple anti-American statements in the past, refuses to denounce Islamic terrorists, and refuses to disclose where the financing for this multi-hundred million dollar building is to come from. A thirteen story golden domed building in this location sends a message to the world 'look what we did'.

This mosque will instantly become a rallying point for radical Islam all across the world. How many of you remember drawings of the twin towers crashing down drawn by Muslim school children in celebration of the attack? How many millions of kids were taught about the supremacy of Islam, and death to the Infidel using the Twin Towers as THE example? How many thousands of terrorists worldwide have been emboldened by the images of the Towers falling?

Now, they will have a photo of the Towers falling on their wall, and right next to it will be a photo of this very impressive looking mosque being built on the site of radical Islam's greatest victory.

This mosque isn't about healing the wounds of 9/11. I don't care what anyone says trying to put forth that garbage. Either they are stupid, or they are lying. The mosque is to give radical Islam a touchable, undeniable symbol of victory against the infidel.

This mosque could be built anywhere. From what I have heard, there are over 100 mosques inside NYC - there are no shortages of places for Muslims to worship. Even if there were shortages, there are hundreds of locations around NYC that this could be built. 'Moderate' Muslims have fallen for the premise that this is an outreach to America.

The thing that pisses me off more than the mosque and the attitude of the mayor of NY is the reaction of the White House. Self proclaimed Greatest Presidential Spokesman in History Robert Gibbs responding today to the question of how the President felt about the mosque, said (with a straight face) that it was beneath the White House to get involved in a local issue. In other words, the President is scared to death to make any kind of statement. He can't be in favor of the mosque, or he loses more credibility with the American people. He can't come out against it, for he is supposed to be the 'great friend' of Muslims worldwide - and can't offend them. So, he shows his yellow streak and hides from the issue.

This issue pisses me off to a level that not much can. As an everyday American, I am offended. I can't imagine how infuriated the victims and families of the those murdered on 9/11 feel about it. How badly does this hurt the thousands of our military who have fought over the past decade to keep us safe from this threat? How hurtful is it to the families of those military members who have sacrificed their lives in the fight?

It is unbelievable that this building is even being considered.

Obama's War on Terror - A Puzzle?

I can't figure out exactly what His Highness is doing in the War on Terror - oh, I'm sorry, they've renamed it so many times I've lost track of it's latest catch phrase.

On one hand, he ties the hands of our military with funding cuts and attacks on its morale. On the other, he approves spending bills needed to keep them in the field. One hand - he comes out and calls the surge in Iraq a failure - even to this day - ignoring its obvious success. On the other, he initiates a surge in Afghanistan that he says (and correctly so) is necessary.

On one hand, he tells his lapdog Holder to make sure that every terror suspect is read their Miranda rights, so they don't have to talk to us. Then he keeps Gitmo open, even though he keeps telling the far left kook fringe that its days are numbered.

But the biggest quandry I have is understanding this ...

Obama insists to the whole world that the US will play by all international rules, will not torture, will not illegally apprehend, will give the full protection of the US legal system to anyone who makes war on us.

He then turns around and authorizes the US military and the CIA to assassinate Al Qaeda leadership and operatives in Pakistan and Afghanistan via drone attacks. The latest is said to have killed Al Qaeda's #3 man.

Pakistan is not an official war zone. These people are not in direct armed contact with US forces. They've not been Mirandized, not been debriefed, not been give the benefit of counsel. They've been hunted down through intelligence, and dispatched via a drone strike controlled from a trailer outside of Las Vegas.

Now, don't get me wrong. I think this is a very good thing. We ought to be doing more of it. I just can't understand why Obama would be so much in favor of this method of eliminating enemies when hs is so dead set against most of our other tools in the Global War on Terror. I also don't understand why those on the far left aren't attacking Obama for doing it - after all, he's applying the death penalty without going through due process ....

Security, Obama Style

Observing our national Joke in Chief respond to recent events in conjuction with his long held stances on national security issues has been an exercise in frustrated disbelief. Seeing this man and his cronies dismantle our country through social attack is one thing - to see them knowingly risk the safety of our soldiers and citizens in the GWOT (and no matter what these idiots say, there IS a Global War on Terror) because of their liberal view of the world is just sickening.

The ongoing issue about air safety is a very difficult nut to attack - I understand that. There is not going to be a way to completely make airline travel safe - no matter the security measures taken here in the US, there will always be a hole somewhere in an airport that is not as secure as ours. There will always be a method of getting a weapon or explosive onto an aircraft - so the shoe bomb and the underwear bomb fizzled (literally) ... next time it might be a tampon grenade. (Yeah, laugh all you want ... remember my post about the terrorist a*hole who blew himself and his targets up with explosives stuck up his ass?) To completely lock down the skies, security-wise, would make our air travel system unusable. THAT is our enemy's goal - not the 200 or so lives they would take by downing a jet, but the resulting chaos that would grip our society for years.

Obama, this week, is convening a meeting on how to adjust air safety to meet the ongoing and upcoming threats. Unfortunately, all the meeting attendees are Obama cronies - and past performance has shown that this pack of idiots can't think their way out of a paper bag. I expect that he'll address them for a few minutes, and then send them off for breakout sessions to come up with ideas written on large paper tablets. The first blurb I've heard coming out of the meeting - we're actually going to enforce the no fly lists that we already have. Absolutely useless....

How about addressing the issue by killing these bastards before they try to get on the plane? To be fair, there is some of this going on, and I am sure there is much more that we don't know about. However, given this administration's reluctance to use electronic intercepts to ID terrorists, I am pretty sure we are not doing all we could.

How about dumping the complete idiot who is in charge of the Department of Homeland Security, a completely brain dead liberal woman who declared to the world that the system had worked because a Dutch civilian had the balls to jump over rows of seats and stop the underwear bomber from succeeding in blowing up that plane? Yeah, the system worked - the a*hole was known, had been reported as a security risk, and was still allowed to board the plane.

How about addressing Yemen seriously? This arm-pit of a country is the new terrorist paradise. The government there is trying to supress the a*holes, but is far too weak to make meaningful progress. Chatter indicated a threat to a western embassy, so what do we do? Do we increase our security? Do we aggressively move to intercept and defeat the threat? No ... we pack up our toys and run away, giving the terrorists a victory without even trying. This teaches the bad guys that all they have to do is get on the internet and make a threat, and they disrupt our country - the threat doesn't have to be real. One pissant terrorist wannabe with an internet connection can cause chaos.

How about not releasing terrorists that we've already captured, giving them a first class plane ticket back to their 'home' country where they will pick up arms once again against us? How about not opening the doors on these murderers just so you can say you're closing the evil Gitmo?

How about not treating terrorists caught on the battlefield as common criminals, giving them the same Constitutional rights as US citizens? How about not spending millions of our tax dollars moving these bastards to another prison inside the US (strategically located to create a few jobs in Illinois, to help the very much in trouble incumbent Democrat Senator), when they are currently housed in the best facility in existance, created specifically for the purpose? How about not spending millions of dollars on civilian trials and all the paraphenalia that goes with it, when military tribunals, already set up for the purpose can do so without risking bringing these a*holes onto the US mainland?

How about some serious border control? I read a local story recently about a Mexican national who had been caught 9 times in this country illegally and deported. Obama's DoJ didn't want him charged with any crime, and admitted they had no idea what to do about him. How about some kind of control over the 12-20 million illegals in this country already (numbers vary depending upon who 'counts'). Our country has the most lax immigration and enforcement policies in the world. If someone wants in illegally, there isn't much to stop them. If they want to stay, there is very little chance of them being found - and even if they are, many liberal locations in the country refuse to do anything to them, and other places will just attempt to deport them.

How about not castrating our military with useless edicts and massive cuts? How about not unilaterally cutting our defensive capabilities to appease our 'former' enemies around the world?

How about the left in this country waking up and realizing we're at war, and it's not a conventional war. The enemy isn't behind a border. The enemy isn't defined by a flag. The enemy doesn't respect non-combatives. The enemy doesn't respect us for withdrawing our troops, curtailing our efforts, trying to make nice, trying to appease, unilaterly disarming, or having Obama as Immaculate in Chief. The enemy doesn't want anything defined as a conventional victory - all they want to do is kill us all and establish a fundamantalist Islamic state to run the world.

I guess it is unreasonable to expect a far left administration to treat issues such as defense and security seriously. Hell, they can't even keep uninvited guests out of the White House.....

Sorry if this was rambling a bit ... it is a large, unpleasant subject, one that gives us nothing but bad news on an every day basis.

Update - I've got to be fair about this. After his meetings, Obama came out and stated that the system failed - information we had was not used. He was clearly unhappy about it, and in reports of the meeting itself, he made his unhappiness known to his cronies in very clear terms.

OK - I give him credit for stating the obvious. Let's see if anything comes from it. I kind of doubt it - the DHS Secretary should have been fired the day it happened.

Does Anyone in Their Right Mind Think These People Can be Negotiated With?

Somalia has been and remains a very dangerous place. Since the US and the UN abandoned it in 1993 after the 'Blackhawk Down' debacle, it has been a lawless haven for criminals, thugs, thieves, and Islamic militants. Many of the terrorists our troops are fighting have been trained in camps in Somalia. Pirate bands operate freely out of Somali ports. The general population of Somalia is suffering under a brutally imposed brand of strict Sharia law.

The Times of India reports that women on Somali streets are being rounded up by masked men, marched to public locations, stripped and whipped. The reason - they are wearing bras. The excuse - wearing a bra is being deceptive towards men. Somalis, foreigners, it doesn't matter - anyone on the street is fair game.

Brutal, harsh, uncompromising, evil .... this core of beliefs, pushed by a small minority of thugs who enjoy imposing their will on others, who enjoy making others suffer, who enjoy controlling others - that is what we are up against. We, as a nation, cannot forget that.

The United States, in particular the Clinton Administration, tried to deal with Somalia in a half assed manner in the early '90s. What resulted was the battle we've come to know under the 'Blackhawk Down' banner, where American forces heroically fought thousands of Somalis in the streets of Mogadishu. 19 Americans died in the battle. The root cause? The Clinton Administration's insistance on treating these people like criminals, not enemies, and then not giving our forces adequate support to carry out the mission they had been given. Sound familiar? America retreated after getting our noses bloodied, and the place has been a festering hotbed for our enemies ever since. Sooner or later, it is going to have to be dealt with.

FBI Foils Terror Plot In Dallas, In Spite of Obama

Yesterday, the 24th, Hosam Maher Husein Smadi drove an explosives laden SUV into the underground parking garage of a downtown Dallas skyscraper. He left it there, jumped into a car with his accomplises, drove a few blocks, then dialed the number on his cell phone that would detonate the explosives and bring the building crashing down, killing thousands of people who were at work inside of it.

This is not fiction - it did happen.

The only thing ... the accomplises were undercover FBI agents, the explosives were fake, and no detonation occurred.

Smadi, a Jordanian in this country illegally, had been under FBI surveillance for months, after he was identified as a threat because of his militant ramblings on a jihadist web site. The FBI set up a sting operation, and let him go all the way past the point of pushing the trigger. He's now in custody, and will stand before a federal court today.

Hooray for the FBI. Thank God they identified this man and took action - if they had not, he might have linked up with other terrorists and actually carried out the plot. Today, there might be a smoking pile of ruin in downtown Dallas, if it weren't for the FBI's efforts.

Now, after kudos for the FBI, let's see what the political fallout will be - and there will be some. The Obama regime will take credit for this, and point to their new directives and policies as being successful. This is bullshit. The surveillance started many months ago, while Bush doctrine was still in place. I do not know what methods were used specifically to catch this animal, but I think it entirely possible that some of those methods may not be available today to law enforcement after Obama has hogtied them. That's conjecture on my part, but I truly believe it.

Smadi was pulled over for a traffice violation on 9/11/09 (no small irony there!) and ticketed for having no driver's license and no insurance. He was fined $550 and let go. If the local Sheriff's department had been allowed to check his immigration status (as they had a right to, since he produced no government issued identification) - he would have been found to be in the country illegally and detained for deportation. But noooooo ... it's a civil rights violation in the view of the left to ask anyone whether they are in the country illegally - that's discrimination. Just think what the recriminations would have been if this animal had detonated real explosives and this traffic stop came to light ....

Smadi will now be subjected to the US legal system, and have all the rights of a US citizen, including taxpayer provided defense attorneys. If they find a legal hole in the case, this guy will walk away completely free - and Obama's government will probably give him legal status to stay here. Smadi will be treated the same as a shoplifter - not as an enemy of our country who tried to murder thousands of our citizens.

Since it's a federal case, Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder will be in charge - it will be VERY interesting to see how this plays out.......

Clinton Declares War on Terror Over

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declared the War on Terror is over, while speaking with reporters at The Hague.

Well, isn't that special. Harry Reid declared the war in Iraq lost on the Senate floor last year. Now Clinton declares the War on Terror over. Since we haven't won the war yet, I guess she means that we give up. I guess that Obama's idea of gaining international friends begins with giving up and retreating.

Let's see, wasn't it the Clinton administration that turned the other cheek to terrorism in the 1990s, a policy that alowed 9/11 to happen? The Democrats were pissed off that 9/11 happened on George Bush's watch, this is the first step in making sure the next 9/11 does happen while Obama is in office.
