I Hope The Eco-Nazis Don't Find Out About This

I honestly see the Obama Administration coming out and championing this as a solution to global warming, climate change, alternative energy, save the whales, save the polar bears, save the ... whatever.

I mean, wouldn't this be a perfect solution for the Missus O and her campaign to take over lunch menus? Kids don't like pink slime, but they'd love crap burgers! I can see them being branded Big O Macs. Delicious, and it will save the planet!

The Japanese company doing this research should expect to receive billions of dollars from Obama for the promise of this green (er, maybe brown) technology.

Obama's Investment in Green Jobs - Really Paying Off

Fremont, CA based Solyndra, a manufacturer of solar panels, was touted by President Obama last year as a prime example of how investment in green technology was going to generate untold gazillions of jobs. Obama and other politicos visited the company for photo ops and speeches.

Solyndra closed its doors yesterday, filing for Chapter 11. 1100 people will lose their jobs. The 1000 additional jobs that Obama had announced that the company was going to add never materialized. A half billion dollars of Federal money, our tax dollars, was loaned to the company by the Obama Administration. That money was spent by the company, and is gone - completely wasted.

Solyndra follows two other solar panel manufacturers into bankruptcy in the past month. Spectrawatt, of NY, filed for Chapter 11 on Aug. 19. Evergreen, of MA, filed 4 days earlier.

All three companies cited as reasons for failure being their inability to compete with Chinese companies producing the same products for 40% cheaper.

Renewable energy products and companies will become important in our society when the technology becomes effificient enough and inexpensive enough for mass deployment - and when they can produce enough energy to justify the expense. The Federal Government cannot speed this up through artificial regulation or by pouring billions of our tax dollars into companies that are doomed to failure. Free enterprise will be the answer.

Update - the FBI raided Solyndra's HQ on 9/8, executing mulitple search warrants. What they were looking for wasn't released. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that the owners made off with a bunch of our money.

There is also discussion about relationships between Obama campaign operatives and company executives, and over 20 visits by those company executives to the White House.

Never fear, Obamaites ... Your henchman Holder will ride to the rescue and squash any real investigation.

Update II - Emails and other evidence has come to light indicating that Obama Administration officials knew of financial problems at the company prior to issuing the half billion dollar loan.

Is Ethanol Turning NASCAR Green?

NASCAR is using an ethanol blend fuel this year at its races. A special blend of high octane E85 (15% ethanol, 85% gas) is being used. It is being touted as part of NASCAR's push towards a more green footprint. That push is part legitimate effort, part public relations.

An expected, but not publicized result of this has been a reduction of fuel mileage by about 15% in NASCAR races. A car that used 100 gallons of gasoline last year uses 115 gallons of E85 this year to go the same distance.

NASCAR will start using fuel injection next year. After decades of staying with antiquated, but well understood carburetors on its engines, teams will be forced to go to the large expense of changing to injectors. One of the selling points the series is using for this change is an increase in fuel mileage of about 15%.

So, fuel consumption comes out as the same as it was last year, before E85 signed a marketing agreement with NASCAR. A 'greener' solution would have been to use gasoline with injection, resulting in higher mileage ad lower fuel use.

It just strikes me as ironic that with all this green and high technology going into the sport, the end result is a wash, fuel wise ...

How Ecologically Friendly Are Electric Cars?

As I sat in traffic over the weekend, wondering why I wasn't seeing thousands of Obama Motors' Dolts surrounding my evil fossil fuel burning full sized FORD F-150, this thought came wandering by.

What happens to the batteries that will be put in all of these electric cars?

So, a little research;

The Volt (Dolt) carries a 435lb lithium ion battery.

The battery, with a full charge, is projected to be good for 40 miles worth of travel before it must be recharged.

The battery must be recharged at a power station. Unlike a hybrid, the car does not charge itself while in motion.

Publicly accessible power stations are being started for free, to set the hook. Later, they will require a pre-paid card to purchase charging time. I have seen estimates that these charges will be in the neighborhood of $100 a month.

GM projects the life of the battery to be 10 years, IF the vehicle is located in a moderate climate. Extreme heat or cold are very likely to shorten the life.

GM's warranty on the battery is 8 years, or 100,000 miles. (Trust me, with only a 40 mile range on a full charge, 8 years is going to happen a lot sooner than 100K miles!)

GM projects that after 8 years, the battery will only be able to hold 80% of the charge it will hold when new. That means that after 8 years, if everything is working perfectly, the range on the Dolt will be down to 32 miles.

GM has not published a replacement cost for the battery. Industry analysts have estimated it will cost around 10 thousand dollars to buy a new battery.

What happenes to the old batteries? 435 pounds of lithium battery is a lot of hazardous waste! Due to the cheapness of lithium, there is no profitable market for recycling the material. There is only one large scale recycling company for this material in the entire world! Small scale recyling (cell phone batteries, etc.) is subsidized by the government because there is no profit in it. Industry analysts are predicting it will be 30 years before large scale lithium recycling infrastructure will be available to take care of all the dead batteries that will be discarded - and then ONLY if the price of new, raw lithium experiences a large increase. So, where is all that toxic waste going to go?

When you couple all of this with the fact that the taxpayer is subsidizing approximately 10,000 dollars of the cost of every Dolt sold, you really have to ask yourself why this piece of shit is being pushed so hard. The reason - Obama's name is on it.

How Economically Friendly Are Electric Cars?

According to Mr. Obama, emerging green technologies are the key to America's economic future. Bazillions of new jobs are going to be created in the green sector. He states it as fact, one that we can bank on.

Green Vehicles, a startup company located in Salinas CA, was touted as one of these wonder companies, due to create 70 jobs and contribute $700,000 in taxes per year to the local economy, while building Obama's perfect vision of an electric car.

Green Vehicles was given $540,000 in startup money by the city.

Green Vehicles shut its doors unexpectedly, with the owner sending out an email to make the announcement. All of the money is apparently gone, in spite of its owners statement over a year ago that they had vehicles ready for sale and delivery.

Wow, isn't that special?

My personal opinion is that any company that buillds something this ugly deserves to go belly up!

Another Eco-Scam

The University of Colorado's Sea Level Research Group has been caught red handed falsifying data in order to advance their position on man made global warming. It's so blatant, and they don't think there is anything wrong with it, that they don't try to deny it.

The Research Group is heavily relied upon for sea level data by governments, businesses, and individuals around the world. Their data on sea level, accompanied by those pretty, scary charts that show our coastline disappearing soon when all the glaciers melt, is seen as gospel. Well, their scripture is full of lies.

The Research Group's Director Steve Nerem freely admitted that the group has been adding 0.3mm to each annual set of numbers. That sounds miniscule, but bear with me ...

The reason for this falsification of the data is this: The Earth's land masses are actually rising up out of the sea, part of the normal plate mechanics that govern our Earth's composition, mechanics that take place over hundreds of thousands of years. This rising actually causes the world's oceans to be able to hold more liquid water (as opposed to frozen water). Eco-Nazis running the center decided to cancel this rising effect out of their measurements, because it made their measurements not show what they wanted them to show.

Add .3mm to each year's measurement, and you cancel out a completely natural phenomenon, and make your presentation look more dramatic.

.3mm does not sound like much, and if you're talking about a square inch of water surface, it is not. .3mm applied to the world's oceans is one hell of a lot of phantom water. .3mm is 3 times the actual, measured rising rate. So, Mr. Nerem and his buds believe that it is perfectly fine to overstate their findings by 300% in order to prop up their eco-emergency crap.

Eco-nazis and their rich fat cat supporters refer to this type of lying as agreed upon scientific fact - fact that cannot be challenged.

Sorry, it's just a lie.

The CFL Scam, Part Deaux

How do you feel about paying $50 for a light bulb?

An update on the CFL scam I wrote about recently.

As of Jan.1, 2012, it will be illegal for anyone to manufacture or import 100 watt incandescent (normal) light bulbs. On Jan. 1, 2014, that ban will apply to all incandescent light bulbs of 40 watt ratings or higher. The light bulb as we know it will be illegal, and unavailable, courtesy of your wonderful federal government.

Compact Flourescent Bulbs have been touted as the successor, but don't give out as much light, don't last as long, and requirte a hazmat team to (legally) clean them up if they break. They cost up to 1000% more than incandescent bulbs.

Another technology that has been eagerly awaited is LED. This will give as much or more light for considerably less wattage (which is a good thing), and will definitely last longer, but get this ... the TARGET price for retailers, the price they are trying to get the LED bulbs DOWN to, is 45-50 dollars per bulb!

Some industry analysts are predicting that LED bulbs may drop in price down to $12-15 apiece by 2015.

If you like your old fashioned cheap light bulbs, better stock up now. The closer we get to these dates, the harder they will be to find. Some stores and manufacturers have already stopped restocking them.

Isn't it amazing how everytime the Federal Government steps in and regulates something, something that they absolutely have to control because we everday citizens are too stupid (in their minds) to make our own decisions, it ends up costing we everyday citizens a bunch of money?

I mean, really ... in two years, I'm going to be paying 1500 percent more (or higher) for a replacement for a perfectly good lightbulb.

There has NEVER, EVER been a government regulation that has resulted in savings to the taxpayer. PERIOD!

Update - Edmund Contoski over at The American Thinker has some thoughts on this that show some even more critical concerns about CFLs than their cost. Worth a read ...

Do You Like What You See At The Pump?

How's that Hope and Change working out for you at the gas pump?

If you are not outraged by what you are paying for a gallon of gas right now, you are either a far left kook eco-Nazi, or President Obama.

There is no legitimate reason for gas to be at 4 bucks a gallon. There is no shortage of gasoline or oil. Even if every drop of oil coming out of Libya was cut off (which it has not been), it would have no tangible effect on the amount of oil available to us.

So, what gives?

Two main forces are at work. First, we have market speculators who are driving up the cost based on fear, imagined shortages, etc. Their motive is stictly profit. This is an unfortunate effect of a free market - people who have no interest in oil per se' are buying and selling it simply to gain profit. I think that there is a simple way this profiteering can be curbed, to slow the wild swings in prices - make speculators hold on to the oil futures they buy for at least a year before they can be sold. That would drive out many of the quick buck hunters.

Second, we have the Obama regime. Normally, the President doesn't have much control over the price of energy, even though the public would think he does. Obama is an exception to that rule. His policies are plain - make the price of fossil fuel so painful that it drives our country to alternative energy. He has said this openly for years, and is proud of it. If you remember in the aftermath of Katrina, he wasn't upset that gas hit 4 bucks a gallon - his problem was that it hit us so fast that it was a shock to us.

Obama and his cronies are blocking new energy exploration at every turn. We can't get to the oil, gas, and coal we have because they won't let us.

There is more oil, gas, and coal in the ground than has been pulled out in all of the years it has been harvested. The largest reserves of these resources in the world are located within our borders or just offshore.

What I can't understand is why Obama is so against us being energy independent, while he gives money to other countries to do exactly what he won't let us do here. 2 billion dolllars to Brazil to help them develop off shore oil drilling. He publicly announced we would be Brazil's biggest oil customer when they got up and running. Huh? Give our tax dollars to another country so that they can sell us oil? Here's an idea - don't give our money away, and let our companies drill here.

Alternative energy is coming, but is decades away from being replacements for oil, gas, and coal. The technology has to mature to make it usable on a large scale. Electric cars with 40 mile ranges aren't usable. Wind power is unreliable, and no one (not even eco-Nazis) want the wind farms in their back yard. Solar is inefficient, the collectors are far too large, and the eco-Nazis don't like them either (remember them objecting to a solar farm in the Mojave Desert?). Nuclear's future is uncertain - it has been almost impossible to get new reactors online in the past 30 years, and now with Japan ....

Drill, baby, drill.

It isn't a Tea Party catch phrase. It isn't crazy right wing extremist hate speech. It is common sense for the survival of our country.

I am sick and tired to paying far too much money for no legitimate reason. Come on, Obama - get the hell out of the way and let us use the resources God placed here for us to use!

As a sidebar to this, do you remember the last time gas hit 4 bucks a gallon? News coverage was non-stop. Our way of life was ending. Thousands were junking their cars and buying bikes. Cash for Clunkers. Worthless SUVs being given away. Waiting lists for hybrid or small cars. Where is that coverage now? Without the mainstream media whipping up a frenzy, we've hit that dollar tip point with little fanfare, and no panic. Did the media do this to spare us? Hell no - they did it because Obama is in office, and they want to do all they can to keep gas prices from being a negative for him as he faces re-election.

Update - Shell Oil has spent 5 years and 4 billion dollars planning to develop offshore oil drilling off the north coast of Alaska. 2.2 billion alone has been given to the Federal Government for the leases to drill on. An estimated 27 billion barrels of oil are within reach - that is 250 percent more than has flowed down the Alaska pipeline in its entire history to date. Shell's plans were to start drilling this summer.

Well, maybe not. Obama's EPA has shut it down. A 4 person EPA appeals board has ruled that drilling would violate air quality rules for a village of 125 people, located 70 miles from the drilling site. The ruling stated that Shell had not figured in emissions from an icebreaker used in exploration when determining the overall environmental impact. A computer model, produced by Earthjustice, an eco-Nazi organization leading the fight to stop the drilling permits, was the sole evidence considered, apparently.

The 4 people on this board are all registered Democrats, all appointed by Obama's EPA leadership, and one is a lead attorney for the environmental activist group Environmental Defense Fund.

4 people, one with an obvious conflict of interest, have stopped a multibillion dollar project that would have assured our independence from foreign oil imports, based on rigged 'science'. Thousands of jobs, and billions of dollars for the Alaska economy have been derailed. I will not put forth my opinion as to what should happen to these four eco-Nazis.

Your Tax Dollars Paid For This

This is what Obama and his EPA thinks is a good use of our tax dollars. How can anyone in their right mind look (or listen) to this garbage and not understand how our government is throwing our money away? Unbelievable.

Obama's Nuclear Quandry

The unfolding disaster in Japan is going to have a profound effect on Mr. Obama. It is going to cause him political problems.

The apparent meltdown of 3 nuclear reactors in Japan is a catastrophe, in many ways. The future of nuclear energy in Japan, where anything 'nuclear' is a touchy subject, will certainly be called into question.

The fallout (pardon the pun) will cause our country's eco-Nazis to freak out, and demand an end to all efforts at nuclear power. They have been successful at this for many years now. There have been no new nuclear power plants built in the US since 1966. These folks will scream for a permanent ban.

The problem for Obama is that he is very much pro-nuclear energy. It is a cornerstone of his clean energy policies, and absolutely critical to meeting his goal of having 80% of our energy produced 'cleanly' by 2035. Without an additional 120+ nuclear power plants coming on line, that goal is simply not obtainable.

So, Obama is stuck in a bad positon (for him). He pisses off the far left (his bread and butter base of support) even more if he stands behind nuclear energy for our future. If he ducks and runs from nukes, he's a flip-flopper, and he pisses off the far left by embracing evil oil and coal (which will be absolutely necessary to continue to power this country). The only way he pleases his base is to return us to the days of pre-combustion engine civilization. Don't know about you, but the propsect of that really has me feeling good about the future.

It will be interesting to see him walk a tightrope, trying very hard not to be pinned down to a specific positon prior to his reelection bid in 2012.

The CFL Scam

No, I'm not talking about the Canadian Football League ...

Compact Flourescent Bulbs. These are the light bulbs that your government, pushed by eco-nazis, is forcing you to use instead of good old fashioned light bulbs.

If things keep progressing as they are, in a couple of years it will be illegal for you to own or use a normal light bulb. It will be illegal for manufacturers to make normal light bulbs. Indeed, many manufacturers have stopped making them, and what is on the shelves and in warehouses now is it. Once they are gone, you will be forced to buy CFLs.

The selling points the left is using to force these things on us are:

1) CFLs use considerably less electricity to operate than incandescent bulbs.

2) CFLs last much longer than incandescent bulbs.

Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Who can argue that those two benefits would be good?

Well, here is the reality of CFLs:

1) CFLs do use less electricity when compared one to one with incandescent bulbs. How much less - well that is open to interpretation.

2) CFLs generate much less light per bulb than normal bulbs. For instance, if you use a 60 watt incandescent bulb, and switch to a CFL bulb, you will get 50% less light. Now, that is not a scientific number derived by testing and published by the government or CFL manufacturers, it is real world experience from my Mark One Eyeball in my living room.

3) CFLs last a fraction of the time an incandescent bulb does. Again, firsthand experience is a whole lot more telling that the lab numbers. I have external floodlights on my house. I had normal bulbs that lasted 10 years in one of these fixtures. I replaced one that burned out with a CFL. Then I replaced it again about 6 months later. Then I replaced it again about 5 months later. Where an old style bulb lasted 10 years, I'm on my third CFL bulb in about a year. (And I use factory brand name bulbs - not off brand) (BTW, related to 2) above - I was using 75 watt rated incandescent floods. I had to replace them with 120 watt CFLs to get the same amount of illumination.)

4) You can not throw away a CFL (legally). They are poisonous, and considered hazardous waste. If you drop and break one on your floor, you are supposed to call a hazmat team to clean it up. I am not kidding!

So, you have to pay more for the CFL bulbs initially. You may have to buy more of them, if you are forced to add light fixtures to get the same amount of illuminiation you are used to. You will have to buy them much more frequently due to failure. You are supposed to pay to have them recycled, and face a stiff fine if you are caught not disposing of them properly. If you drop one, you are supposed to pay for a hazardous materials handling firm to come out and clean it up.

Every stinking one of these points is geared towards making you pay more, either to the government, manufacturers, or cleaners.

The fact that these things contain mercury and are hazardous to the environment immediately cancels out any 'green' benefits.

So, why are they forcing this on us?

Like so many other things the government does, if you want to know the real reason, follow the money:

Manufacturers, like GE, make tons more money on CFLs. GE is in bed with Obama and the far left part of our government. GE spends millions in political donations to make sure the politicians they buy and pay for help their business. So ... politicians force us to give more of our money to GE (and the other companies that support those politicians).

Hydrogen Car In Your Future? Consider This

Hydrogen powered cars are one of the exciting new oil-free technologies that are being explored right now. Let me say up front that even though I do not consider oil to be evil, it is clear that alternative fuels need to be developed over the coming years. There are billions and billions of barrels of oil still in the ground (more than we've already pulled out is still down there), but eventually it will get too expensive to get to. Clean power will also help our environment considerably.

I know ... those of you who have read this blog for a while may be shocked at those statements, but I truly believe them.

Hydrogen is a gas. It burns clean. It is plentiful, since it is one of the elements that make up water. Many of you will have seen images of cute little cars sporting 'hydrogen powered' decals on them. Like this:

The reality of hydrogen powered vehicles for public use may be more along the lines of this - something big, very well protected, not vulnerable to normal traffic fenderbenders:

Hydrogen is extremely flamable, and very easy to ignite. I have a difficult time seeing a future of small, cute hydrogen powered vehicles filling the highways. They will be involved in collisions. They will be split open, because small cars just don't have much protection around the propulsion system, not matter what the fuel is. What in the world is going to keep the hydrogen fuel cell from cooking off and incinerating everyone within a hundred yards? Drive a huge armored vehicle? That's the only way I'm getting into a hydrogen powered vehicle.

To all you eco-nazis who feel I am being a paranoid tool of big oil, I give you this as a shining example of a hydrogen vehicle's encounter with a spark .... the Hindenburg.

Copenhagen - One Huge Eco-Scam

I'm sure everyone has heard of the ongoing eco-summit in Copenhagen, where all the world is supposed to declare pollution dead, and Obama comes to sign the final treaty. Well, the delegates have been there for about a week, doing the preliminary meetings before the big shots show up to smile for the cameras.

A couple of days ago, the block of undeveloped countries walked out of the meetings, stating that the developed countries weren't doing enough to commit to cutting emissions.

India stated before the meetings even began that they would not sign any agreement that bound them to doing anything.

China, yesterday, stated that they too would not sign any agreement.

A few hundred protestors have been clashing with local Police. I've seen the TV reports - there are as many media people carrying cameras as there are protestors. Look at the protestors - they're the same bunch of wannabe-anarchists that show up for every global meeting, trying to get their stupid asses on TV. They don't care what the meeting is about - they just want to raise hell, break things, and get attention.

Nancy Pelosi has lead a Congressional delegation of 20 (14 Dems, 6 Reps). What exactly they are to accomplish, who knows? (Actually, it's another one of those Congressional junkets where they take their wives or mistresses (and a donkey in Pelosi's case) at taxpayer expense. - I'd love to see Pelosi's schedule - what she does, where she goes, how much time she spends shopping and wining and dining on our dime.) She has already told the Republican contingent that they will not be allowed to stand with her during newsconferences.

Copenhagen, and northern Europe in general, is experiencing record low temperatures and high snowfall levels during the meetings! Denmark very rarely gets snow - the last white Christmas was 14 years ago. I have not heard Algore explain how global warming has caused this.

Algore has been strangely quiet during the meetings. What were supposed to be his Days of Glory were dashed by the release of the Climate-gate emails. He has refused to answer any question on the subject.

Obama is going to attend the meetings, staged to show up in the last hours to place His historic signature on the historic agreement that will cripple US business. Doesn't look like there is going to be an agreement, so why is he still going?

Hillary Clinton was dispatched with cash in hand to try and salvage an agreement for Obama to sign. She has pledged that the US will coordinate the donation of $100,000,000,000 PER YEAR that will come from developed nations and be given to emerging nations to help them reduce their own emissions. C'mon ... even the libs can't believe this -

1) Since the US is coordinating the money, you can guarantee that means it will be 99%, if not all, funded by us, the taxpayers. No other country is going to contribute anything to this - they'd be stupid if they did.

2) 100 BILLION PER YEAR to underdeveloped countries, most of which are run by dictators or crooked regimes. Who in their right mind believes any of this money will be used for emission reduction? It will be siphoned off by the dictators and crooks, used to line their Swiss bank accounts and buy their palaces. Consider this - if all the money the US had donated to African causes over the years had actually made it to where it was supposed to go, there would be no poverty, no starvation in Africa. All of our money has been stolen ... and this will be the biggest theft yet.

Prostitutes in Copenhagen (where prostitution is legal) have offered their services to credentialed delegates for free. I imagine an awful lot of the delegates have passed on the breakout sessions for sessions of a more personal nature.

1400 Limos are said to be booked for the meeting. Only 5 are actually electric/hybrid. You can bet that all of them are going to be idling, waiting for their passengers, burning tons of gasoline and diesel, and dumping out tons of carbon emissions. No public transportation for the delgates - they're much too important for that.

Over 150 private jets are bringing in delegates and paparazzi seeking celebrities. This is THE place to be seen if you're in Hollywood, or a pretender. So many jets, they are having to drop their passengers and fly to neighboring Sweden to park. Do you think any of them care what the carbon fottprint of their travels is making - no, it's irrelevant - they've just got to be there to be seen.

In preparation for the meeting, the Danish bought their first water cannon - in case they have to welcome some of the more unruly protestors. They also showed off a new temporary detainment facility (jail) that can hold 4000 in 360 cages located in an abandoned brewery. Hopefully, some of the old stock will be laying around to keep them entertained!

Folks, like I said before, if you want to know what's behind the Global Warming Scam, follow the money. The trail is plain as day at this meeting - countries who are not as wealthy or prosperous as the US are demanding we give them billions of dollars. All this will result in is us being farther and farther in national debt. Not a single one of those dollars will be used for the thinly veiled excuse of emissions reductions. You can count on a lot of it ending up in the hands of our friends in Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, etc.....

Think we don't need to pay attention to what is going on over there? We need to - it's coming out of our pockets!

The Whole Eco-Green Movement is a Scam

The lunacy of the eco-nazi movement is not just ludicrous - it is dangerous and it will cost all of us a tremendous amount of money - as well as impacting our way of life.

Why is the eco-nazi movement being pushed so much? There have been kook left wing eco-nazis around since the early '60s - why is the effort getting so much steam behind it now? Follow the money and the answer is there for all to see ...

1) Algore, the world's most knowledgable climate expert, according to himself. Algore, who puts forth such incredible, knowledgable, infallible, scientifically proven work such as his docudrama "An Inconvenient Pile of Bullshit". Algore, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to save our planet. Algore - who makes millions upon millions of dollars in speaking fees and royalties while spitting his vile climate crap. Algore, who makes tens of millions of dollars investing in companies who make technology to address his false climate emergency. Algore, who without the climate emergency, would be just another lunatic Washington has-been with no income source .....

2) George Soros, bankroller of the left wing kook movement in this country. George Soros, who pulls the Obama Administration's strings, because he footed the bill for their ascension to power. George Soros, who announced his investment of over a billion dollars into 'green' technology - counting on making a ton of money out of the climate emergency.
3) T. Boone Pickins, who spent millions of his own money putting up TV ads touting green energy sources, such as wind and natural gas. T. Boone, who made and lost and made fortune on oil - has suddenly gotten green on us? No - he's invested millions, and stands to make billions on wind farms and natural gas production in and around Texas.

4) Power Companies. Yes, power companies. Passing on all kinds of fees, taxes, and surcharges to us, their customers. They aren't providing anything to us in return, merely milking every dollar they legally can out of us.

Example 1 - Oncor, who has convinced the Texas Public Utilities Commision to let them charge customers for not one, but two electric smart meters, which will cost the average Texas consumer about $300 over the next three years, without providing any increase in function, energy savings, or savings to the consumer.

Example 2 - Cleveland's power co-op, which will deliver new smart lightbulbs to each residential consumer, without asking if they are wanted. These lightbulbs, which cost the co-op about 1.85 each, made in China, will be added to the consumer's bill at over $21.00 each - and there is no opt-out for the consumer.

Example 3 - that same Cleveland co-op. You would think that using eco-friendly light bulbs will cut electricity usage for the consumer, resulting in lower bills, right? Wrong ... the co-op will add fees to each bill to offset any electricity usage savings seen by the consumer, so the bills will not go down. The power company gets paid for electricity that is not used!

5) Fourth World Countries. International agreements that are being pushed now are geared towards one thing, and it's not saving the environment. It is all about transferring money from rich countries (namely the United States), and giving it to poorer countries (which is pretty much everyone else). If you look closely at any of the cap-and-trade proposals, including Kyoto, that is the underlying function - wealth redistribution, regulated by those who would receive the wealth.

6) China, Russia, and our other so called friends (ex-enemies?), who see international eco agreements as a method to weaken the United States as a global power. Every dollar drained out of our country, either by investments based on falsities or confiscated for transfer to other countries, is a bullet shot into the gut of America. Do you think that these countries, along with India (the biggest polluters on the planet) will ever agree to anything that punishes themselves for eco issues? Not a chance.

Being a good steward to the planet is a noble cause. Protecting our environment is a good thing. However, destroying our country and our way of life for false reasons just to line the pockets of rich left wing kooks and our enemies is criminal.

Update - The University of East Anglia is a well known and 'well respected' center for global climate research, and whose research is frequently quoted by eco-nazis. Algore has been a big supporter of theirs, and vice-versa. This past week, hackers broke into the University Climate Research Unit's computers, and downloaded a wealth of emails and documents that show a pattern of deception, lies, fabrications, and coverups that the Unit has been guilty of. The documents show clear patterns of falsified data, and discussions between staff about how to present the falsified data to further their political agenda. The Unit's Director, Phil Jones, is quoted in one email telling his collegues how to 'trick' data in a temperature graph to hide the fact that global temperatures have actually gone down since 1960. Jones denied it, claiming his comments were taken out of context.

Typical left wing behavior - the goal justifies any means in their minds, including flat out lying to the world.

Update II - As we approach the start of the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit, India, one of the world's two greatest polluters (China being the other), has publicly stated that it will not accept or sign any agreement that legally binds it to reducing emissions of any type. Now, that should tell the whole world what this summit is all about. Instead, the international press concentrates on Obama, and how he is going to commit the US to binding agreements that will punish the country and result in wholesale transfer of money from the US to Fourth World countries.

If the greatest polluters on the planet will not sign any binding agreement, why should we?

Update III - Sen. Barbar Boxer, one of the Democrat Party's biggest eco-Nazis, chairman of the Senate's Environment and Public Works Committee, has come out publicly on the hacking and subsequent release of the emails. Typically, rather than be outraged at the content of the emails, she is outraged and demanding criminal prosecution of those who leaked them!

"You call it 'Climategate'; I call it 'E-mail-theft-gate. Whatever it is, the main issue is, are we facing global warming or are we not? I'm looking at these e-mails, that, even though they were stolen, are now out in the public.

We may well have a hearing on this, we may not. We may have a briefing for senators, we may not. Part of our looking at this will be looking at a criminal activity which could have well been coordinated. This is a crime." - Sen. Barbar Boxer, during her committee meetings

S0, the libs are freaked out that the emails outing the falsifying of ecological data have been leaked, not about the subject of the emails. She wants the leakers prosecuted. She will not allow her committee to pursue inquiries into the contents of the emails.

You know, if this had happened in the Bush Administration, on another subject, and information that harmed the Administration or one of its causes came to light, Democrats would be crowing at the top of their voices to reward the leakers and pursue the subject of the leak. Liberals love leakers, hackers, and tattle-tales - IF their efforts result in information the liberals like. Two-faced bastards ....

Global Warming Scam Gone Mad

Japan's All Nippon Airlines (ANA) has started a 1 month trial program where uniformed representatives located at the gate will ask all passengers boarding the flight to go to the bathroom to relieve themselves before being allowed on the plane.

The stated goal of this is to reduce the flight's carbon footprint by lightening the load. The airline figures that if 150 people are on the flight, and everyone is filled up with pee, this could lighten the takeoff weight of the aircraft by 64 kilograms. This will means the flight uses slightly less fuel. The airline stated they expect a five ton reduction in carbon emissions over the one month test period.

I'm sorry, but if someone in an airline uniform (or anyone else except my doctor) walks up to me and tells me I have to go to the bathroom for them, I'll probably whip it out and piss on their leg right there.

This is eco-nazism at its worst. I cannot believe that an airline actualy thinks they're helping the world by doing this. Algore must own their stock.

BTW, this is real, not another one of those stupid Japanese game shows gone mad ....

I Hate the Toyota Prius

Toyota's Prius and I don't see eye to eye ....

This little hybrid car is one of the ugliest vehicles ever made. I have driven a couple of them on rentals, and I must say that I am impressed with the technology. 47mpg, and pretty peppy. If Toyota had spent a fraction of their time trying to design something that actually looked good to use the technology, they'd have a winner. If someone wants to buy one to get the mileage, I have no problem with that - if they can stand the ugliness ....

My problem is the damned irritating commercials Toyota is running for them. I hated the song when it first came out in the '70s - it is abrasive, and gets under your skin like fingernails across a chalkboard. The ad agency that came up with this has to be based in San Francisco ....

Note to Toyota - sell your car on its merits. People who want to buy it for the mileage will buy it. Trying to sell it as the answer to Obama/Algore's Global Warming Farce is demeaning, and frankly disgusting. (Apparently trying to sell it that way isn't working very well - sales figures for the Prius this year are pretty dismal, from what I've seen.)

Another Green Scam

You've all seen Oreo Cakesters at the grocery, right? These are soft, cake like Oreos that will make your butt expand at the speed of light. They come in four flavors.

In yesterday's grocery run, I picked up a couple of boxes. I noticed they were different in size. Then I noticed green areas printed on the smaller box. "New eco-improved box" it claims. The green areas on the box are strategically placed so that you cannot look at the box at any angle without seeing green.

The box is eco-friendly because it is slightly smaller. OK, a little less cardboard, a little less raw material used, a little less trash to be discarded. I'll agree with that.

If Nabisco's concern was to reduce trash, then that is enough of a goal and reward to justify the change.

If Nabisco's concern was lowering their costs, mission accomplished.

Either of those reasons by themselves should be enough of a reason for the company to have done this, and provided adequate ROI. But no ... they have to trumpet their achievement in bright green on the box, catching the consumer's eye, saying "buy me, I'm green!".

I'm sorry, but in MY OPINION, Nabisco was far more concerned with trying to generate a competitive advantage in sales vs. saving the planet. Now, in a capitalist society, there is nothing at all wrong with that. But, in Obama's USSA, someone at Nabisco should be going to jail over this.

Largest Tax Increase in History to Become Law This Friday

Does that surprise you? Our left wing kook run government is counting on it.

Henry Waxman's climate change bill is scheduled to be voted on this Friday, the 26th. The contents of the bill, all 1200 pages of it, still have not been made available for members of the House or the general public to view. This bill has been crafted in secret by Waxman and a handful of other left wing eco-nazis. The cornerstone of the bill is Cap and Trade.

By ramming it through the House in this fashion, Pelosi, Waxman, and Obama prevent the Congress and the Public from knowing what is happening until after it's too late to do anything about it. These people are like a bunch of roaches - they do their work hidden, out of sight. Open the lid to the trashcan and shine a light on them, and they scatter. That's what they are afraid of - if Congress and the People get to see what is in this before the vote is taken, there is a very good chance enough Dems will be so sickened by it that it will not pass. They cannot allow disclosure, cannot allow us to know what they are doing.

This bill will fundamentaly change business in the United States. It will drive many companies out of business -many more will be forced to move their operations off shore. It will forever raise the amount of money each citizen has to pay in taxes and increases in energy costs. The latest estimates I have seen put the figure at $4500 per year, per citizen, in increased costs due solely to the provisions of this bill. That's PER PERSON.

Our only hope is in the US Senate. Once the House passes the bill, it goes there for modification and a vote for ratification. Modification is unlikely - Waxman worked with a few ultra-left wing Senators on the bill, dragging them into the process so that it looks like both sides of Congress produced it. Republican sponsored changes are likely not to be allowed to be heard, much less voted on. Republicans have some procedural methods they can use to stall the bill, to try and force changes or get it killed altogether. Chances of that are slim, but they've got to try.

Update - the House passed the bill late Friday afternoon, 219-212. It was a lot closer than the Dems had predicted, but you can still thank 7 a*holes for the largest tax increase in history. The close vote indicates a lot of Dems sided against the bill. We can only hope the Senate turns out differently.

Another Example of the Global Warming/Eco-Friendly/Green Scam

I was walking down the aisle in my local Target store yesterday. Each of these stores have endcaps that have 'Clearance' signs on them, with items at reduced prices. I happened to see some legal pads on one of these Clearance racks.

I use quite a few legal pads in my work, so the opportunity to pick up some at cheaper than retail sounded good, so I took a look. Upon closer inspection, these three pad packs were labeled as 100% recycled material. 'Green' ... 'Buy these and save a tree' ... Well, ok ....

The clearance price on this three pad pack was three time more expensive than a normally priced 5 pack of standard legal pads. WTF?

Just another example of the green scam. Put 'recycled', 'eco-friendly', 'save the planet', or 'green' on anything and you can charge 2 to 3 times as much as a product that doesn't carry those magic words. This is decades old marketing at its best - take advantage of dim-witted consumers and their gullability to make a bunch of money.

This is what Algore does best - talk up a line of B.S. about climate change, and cash in big by investing in technologies/companies that he says are 'saving the planet'.

What a scam .....
