Dallas ISD Has a Moment of Clarity

The Dallas Independent School District has a policy requiring the naming of schools in its district to be proposed during the spring. Members of the DISD Board of Trustees had pushed to waive that requirement, in order to rename a new school (scheduled to open in 2013) after Sonia Sotomayor, and to rename a currently open school after Barack Obama. The reason for the rush was not made clear, but I believe they wanted to do it while the 'iron was hot', and no one would dare opose it.

Irregardless of how one feels about the renamings, the manner in which it was to be done would violate district policy.

Last night, the Board of Trustees voted on the proposed Sotomayor naming. Four members (two black, one white, one hispanic) voted for the renaming. Four members (two white, two hispanic) voted against. One member (black) abstained. Lacking a maority vote, the proposal failed.

The proposal for the Obama renaming was pulled from the agenda before the meeting, perhaps because the sponsors knew it wouldn't pass and wanted to avoid the embarrassment.

The trustee who was pushing the proposals immediately played the race card.

"I don't know if some of you are afraid of a strong Latino woman or not. It's so disrespectful to Hispanics in that part of Dallas." - Ron Price (who is not-hispanic, hence his improper use of Latino instead of Latina)

So, if you uphold the rules/law, and it goes against what the liberals want, you must be a racist.

This is such a good study into the mindset of the left wing kooks who are running our government. They are like children who are spoiled rotten - rules mean nothing, laws mean nothing, common sense means nothing. If they don't get what they want as soon as they want it, they start crying and screaming at the top of their lungs, and call their 'enemies' names. It would be laughably pathetic, if it weren't so serious.

They can't follow their own rules to govern even the naming of a school. It's been proven over and over they can't manage the District's finances. Is it such a surprise that parents will go to any length to private school their children if they reside within DISD?

Good summation of the issues, you should write a letter to the DISD Board. Don't go personally, after all, you are white so your voice is irrelevant.

Ron Price, is he related to John Wiley Price? That would explain a lot. Don't get me started on the intelligence of that man!

Dear God, I ask again, how do these people get elected?

What I don't like about this is the part that seems I see so much now -- oh, you're against it, you're a racist.

Like, wait a minute, can I have an opinion, can I have a thought -- no, you're racist. You just don't like having a black president or an Hispanic on the Supreme Court -- geez.

So whatever the rules are, whatever the problem is or the suggestion is, if you go against it -- you're racist, that's your only reason to disagree.
