MLB's ASG MVP - Dirty Boy

Major League Baseball announced today that Melky Cabrera, outfielder for the San Francisco Giants, has been suspended and banned from the league for 50 games after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.  Cabrera was named the MVP at the All Star Game, and is batting .346 with 11 home runs and 60 RBIs.  He is a big reason the Giants are in the position they are in, first place in their division with the Dodgers right behind them.

Though the suspension hits this dirt bag hard, and it hurts the Giants for the rest of the season, it's not enough.  Here you have one of the key components producing the current level of Giants' success has been found out to have been 'juiced' while playing.  The Giants should forfiet all games he played in between the time of the drug test and his suspension today, with the other teams gaining the victories.

The results of the All Star Game should be reversed - not the score, for who cares about that?  The all important home field advantage for the World Series should now be awarded to the American League team.

Serves Congress Right!

Everyone's heard about Roger Clemons, Steroids, and Congress.

The judge presiding over Clemon's perjury trial declared a mistrial on Day 2. The prosecution ignored the judge's order, and presented evidence to the jury that had been ruled inadmissable. This was either gross incompletence on the prosecutor's part, or they did it on purpose to end this sham of a trial. I don't know which ... we'll see when the government decides whether to retry the Rocket.

I don't know if Clemons did steroids or not. Probably so, given what we've heard. I don't care. It's up to MLB to deal with this, if they care to. It's up to the appropriate law enforcement agencies to file charges against Clemons if he is accused of anything specifically illegal involving steroids.

My question is why the hell was Congress involved?

The answer is the Spanish Inquisition mentality that Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) took with his precious committee chairmanship, given to him by Nancy Pelosi after Dems took control of Congress in 2006. Waxman went through a laundry list of people and organizations he wanted to attack, and he used his position and committee to do it with.

His tactic was to drag people in to testify on a given subject, and then try to trap the poor suckers into saying something wrong. First thing you know, the 'criminal' is being hauled up on perjury charges for lying to Congress. Didn't matter if the subject was actually accused of committing a crime, Waxman worked them around into a position where he could charge them.

All Waxman did was cause a lot of people trouble, and waste a lot of Congress' time and taxpayer's money carrying out his personal vendettas. It was a gross abuse of power, and a textbook example of official oppression. He ought to be hauled in front of a judge and jury, and found guilty of stealing from the American public.

How many millions of our dollars have been wasted on this? Three years of investigations, 100 law enforcement officers involved, ruining a man's finances and reputation ... and for what? So the Waxman Inquisition can hang a skin on his wall?

Rangers Put a Young Fan on SportsCenter

During a Texas Rangers game this past weekend, a young fan with a glove got a once in a lifetime experience. This boy will remember this day for the rest of his life!

Update - Sorry folks - the video got pulled because of the MLB Copyright Nazis..... Apparently they think they own every little bit of America's pastime .....

Rangers Correct Opening Day Gaffe

The Ballpark in Arlington is home to the Texas Rangers baseball team. A beautiful stadium, it is a peasure to see a ballgame there.

The outfield wall has become home to a number of sponsor signs, as it has in many stadiums. One of the Rangers' sponsors this month is 'The Dump', a furniture liquidation store. Someone in the Rangers' organization, either by chance or on purpose, located 'The Dump' signage on the wall right in front of the Rangers' bullpen. Now, with the horrid performance of Rangers' pitching over the years, one would consider this truth in advertising.

In any case, after this gaffe was noted on the opening day broadcast by the play by play announcers, the Rangers quickly and quietly moved the sign. 'The Dump' is now located by the first base line foul pole. I haven't heard anything else said about it, just noticed the move as I watch today's game telecast.

I hope someone got pictures.

Angels Pitcher Killed by Drunk Driver

Nick Adenhart, number three starter for the LA Angels, was killed early Thursday morning by a drunk driver. He had just pitched in his first game of the season. The 'allegedly' drunk driver has a history of drunk driving convictions, had a suspended license, and ran from the scene of the accident. Police apprehended him.

Adenhart died shortly after undergoing emergency surgery. Two others in the car were killed instantly, and a fourth person is in critical condition.

It's a terrible way for MLB to start the season. It is horrible blow to his family and his teammates.

Andrew Gallo, the drunk, should have been in jail. Now, he will go to jail for three counts of murder, unless the people who allowed him to still be on the street in the first place plea bargain down the charges.
